Job Description:
The Manager of the Engineering Data and Training Department is made up of Technical Publications including two (2) Managers and approximately nineteen (19) technical writers, Configuration Management/Data Management including one (1) Manager and approximatley eight (8) CM/DM personnel, Engineering Data Services made up of three (3) personnel, and Technical Training for a total of approximatley thirty (30) personnel. The Manager of Engineering Data and Training provides strategic guidance for the department, ensures accomplishment of objectives, and mentors/leads the team to overall success. The Manager of Engineering Data and Training reports to the Engineering Director.
Department functions include:
- Lead a multi-disciplined team comprising:
- Technical Writing and Technical Training
- Configuration Management, Data management, and Engineering Data Services.
- Manage team staffing
- Recruit diverse and effective team members.
- Manage and oversee supply and demand planning
- Manage department procedures and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause and corrective actions as needed when process failures or adverse outcomes arise.
- Prepare, review, and approve bids and proposals for potential new contracts.
- Manage manpower cost and schedule for labor as control account manager (CAM).
- Partner with program IPTs to ensure success of programs with Engineering Data content.
- Support team career development.
- Manage team and individual performance.
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategies and roadmaps for Engineering Data and Training projects.
- Align engineering data and Training objectives with business goals and ensure effective communication of strategies across the business areas.
- Actively participate in strategic and business aspects of the MMG Engineering Division.
- Provide top-level support for proposal generation, Earned Value Management, estimates-to-complete, high-level customer interface, strategic planning, product and technology roadmaps.
Technical Oversight:
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for all Engineering Data and Training projects, ensuring adherence to best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve engineering data and Training proposals and solutions to ensure technical feasibility and compliance.
Program Technical Leadership:
- Lead and manage engineering data and Training projects from conception through execution, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meeting all technical requirements.
- Coordinate with program managers and other stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and deliverables for Engineering Data and Training.
Team Management:
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages continuous improvement and technical excellence through use of metrics
Customer Engagement:
- Address customer requirements, provide technical solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving.
- Effectively communicate with internal & external customers and manage expectations.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all engineering data activities comply with relevant aviation regulations, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with Engineering Data and Training projects and processes.
Innovation and Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve engineering data and Training processes and methodologies.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for Engineering Data and Training projects, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost control.
- Monitor project expenditures and adjust plans as necessary to stay within budget.
Essential Functions:
- This role may require occasional travel to client sites or other company locations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Must be a US Citizen in order to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
Qualifications:
- Education and years of experience
- Active Clearance if required
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Proficient in Atlassian Jira.
- Expert with Product Lifecycle Management tools (i.e. Teamcenter)
- Expert in EVMS
