Responsibilities

Spirit Airlines is looking for a Lead, Material Logistics Specialist to join their Material Operations team. To be successful in this role candidates should possess inventory experience in a warehouse setting, must be comfortable with computers, and general office tasks, and excel at both verbal and written communication. 

In this role, the individual will be responsible for handling aircraft parts requests and logistics movements to support the Technical Operations team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing shipping, receiving, and stocking of materials as well as maintaining accurate stock levels to guarantee materials availability needed for maintenance events. Handle aircraft parts requests and logistics movements to support Technical Operations tasks. Perform and oversee tasks related to shipping, receiving, storing, and inspecting of materials, equipment, and supplies. Maintain accurate stock levels to guarantee materials availability needed for maintenance events to avoid service disruptions by aircraft being out of service due to parts shortages. Responsible for preparing dangerous goods declarations, pack dangerous goods shipments, and tender dangerous goods for 3rd party transport on Spirit Airlines' behalf. As well as support Team schedule planning and timeclock management. 

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, self-driven, and reliable. Candidates should be professional, polite, and attentive while also being accurate. Most importantly, the Material Logistics Specialist Lead should have a genuine desire to meet the needs of others.

  • Participates in the daily Warehouse and Stockroom floor agenda planning. 
  • Oversees daily stockroom functions. 
  • Supports Material Logistic Supervisors on hiring and Team planning. 
  • Prepares dangerous goods declaration for outbound shipment, Airwaybills, and import/export for material shipments. 
  • Packs and tender dangerous goods shipments and reviews dangerous goods outbound shipment checklists.
  • Receives and stocks materials and tools, including identification and marking of dangerous goods.
  • Monitors and action materials requests via email and TRAX software.
  • Pulls parts and tools for transfer orders to ship via 3PL or Spirit flights or picklists for local maintenance line support.
  • Separates dangerous goods before placing them into stock and returns to stock unused materials. 
  • Monitors stockroom monthly shelf life and completes daily stockroom reports. 
  • Performs daily inventory cycle counts and monitors for completion and accuracy. 
  • Maintains integrity of the inventory by actioning controls around warehouse and stockrooms. 
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace by warehouse and stockroom housekeeping standards. 
  • Identifies and handles hazardous materials following DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Processes removed aircraft components for repairs. 
  • Issues materials to WO/Aircraft. 
  • Adheres to safety precautions when operating a forklift or hand pallet jack to handle bulk shipping and receiving.
  • Drives in the AOA to deliver materials for Line Maintenance support or transfer orders on Spirit flights.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergency change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments). 

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience

1-3 years experience in Supply Chain and Logistics leadership

Certifications

  • OSHA Forklift preferred. 
  • DOT/IATA Dangerous Goods Shipping preferred. 

Skills

  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. 
  • Polite and professional communication via phone and e-mail. 
  • Multi-tasking: manage several assignments at the same time and deliver positive results. 
  • Detail Oriented: produce accurate work to avoid unnecessary reproduction. 
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and prioritization skills. 
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and stand during extended periods.

Domestic & International travel under 10% of the time
